Your Honey Source

Honey is a natural sweet substance produced by honey bees. The color, flavor and aroma of honey differs depending on the nectar source the bees collected from. Honey has thousands of varietals, all dependent on where the bees foraged for the nectar. Colors range from water white to dark amber and flavors range from mild to bold. Generally, the flavor of light colored honey is milder and sweeter while the flavor of darker honey is bolder and more robust.

We carry a wide variety of bulk honey. Each variety has its own flavor and color profile as well as functionality benefits. Let us help you decide what will work based on your application and brand objectives.

Honey Sweetness Scale

Honey is 1 to 1.5 times sweeter than conventional sugar. Wondering how some of the most common sweeteners compare
Honey is comprised of about 35% glucose and 40% fructose. It has about 9% sucrose, and smaller amounts of some other simple carbohydrates. Conventional sugar, on the other hand, is made up of sucrose. Each molecule of sucrose has one molecule of glucose bound with one molecule of fructose. Overall, sugar is about 50% glucose and 50% fructose.
Though honey and sugar are mainly made up of glucose and fructose, honey tastes sweeter because most of its glucose and fructose are not bound together into sucrose.

True Source Verified

Back in 2010, a group of honest honey companies and importers came together and said: “Enough.” They founded True Source Honey, LLC, which launched the True Source Certified® program.

The Hard Truth About Honey Adulteration

Not all honey is what it claims to be. As one of the most adulterated foods in the world, fake honey floods markets, hurts beekeepers, and threatens bee health. Today, honey ranks among the three most adulterated foods on the planet, right next to olive oil and milk powder.
